Connectivity of the port Guaymas

The port is 1.8 km (1.1 miles) from the Federal four-lane highway No.15 and forms part of the “CANAMEX” Corridor only 400 km (248.55 miles) away. The city of Nogales is located to the north and is on the border of the U.S.

With the Multimodal Corridors Guaymas-Arizona and Guaymas-Mexicali, the Puerto de Guaymas is amply connected to the market of northwest of Mexico and the Southeast of U.S., without consideration of natural barriers (bridges, steep grades, tunnels, etc.) which represents an attractive option for multimodal transport between countries with coastlines in the Pacific Ocean and the market in the southern U.S. and northern Mexico, through Ferrocarril Mexicano, S.A. de C.V. (FERROMEX) http://www.ferromex.com.mx/, Union Pacific (UP) http://www.up.com/, Pacer Stacktrain , http://www.pacer.com/, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) http://www.bnsf.com/ y CSX http://www.csx.com/, offering transcontinental service, with capacity to double stacking.

For this mode of land transport, the main nodes identified are the intermodal terminal in the Puerto de Guaymas, the Port of Tucson and the border ports of Nogales, Sonora and Mexicali, B.C.S. Studies conducted earlier indicate that practically with existing infrastructure; estimate the capacity of the railway line to handle 14 trains per day in both directions.
